Autumn is all about getting cosy and making the most of clear, crisp days. Here’s our ultimate checklist of how to do exactly that during a stay at The Runnymede on Thames.

Hit the spa

Indulge in some ‘you’ time by spending a few hours in our award-winning spa. Facilities include a whirlpool, an infrared sauna, indoor pool and comfy loungers. Put the icing on the cake by booking a treatment – our Top to Toe experience is perfect for total relaxation.

Brisk walk

Soak up nature and history with a brisk walk along the Thames Path. Crunch through the fallen leaves at Runnymede Pleasure Grounds and spot the ruins of the old Benedictine priory on the other side of the river, before visiting the monuments celebrating the sealing of the Magna Carta here in 1215.

Hot chocolate in the Lounge

Nothing complements crisp autumn days better that a warming hot chocolate. Order yours in our cosy Lounge, where you can watch riverside life through our floor to ceiling windows.

People-watching in Windsor

The royal town of Windsor – just upriver from The Runnymede – is the perfect spot for an afternoon stroll around the boutiques. After getting your autumn wardrobe in order, stop at one of Windsor’s pretty cafes for a cup of tea and a spot of people-watching.

Magna Carta Garden

Explore our grounds and you’ll come across the illustrious Magna Carta Garden. Featured at Chelsea Flower Show in 2015 to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta, the garden is now a permanent installation at The Runnymede. Ideal for an autumnal breath of fresh air that doesn’t take you too far from the creature comforts of our hotel!

Hearty dinner

Warming foods made with vibrant seasonal ingredients make autumn a time to look forward to. From three course meals in The Lock to buffet style dining in Leftbank – you won’t go hungry at The Runnymede! Join us on Sundays for roasts with all the trimmings too.

Bath and a film

Sometimes the most indulgent thing to do during an autumnal evening is to stay indoors. Treat yourself to a bubble bath using the fragrant ESPA jasmine and bergamot products in your room. Then put on your dressing gown and snuggle up to watch a film. Autumnal bliss at its best!

Lazy breakfast

Taking time over breakfast is another treat we don’t allow ourselves to do often enough. So make this part of your agenda when staying with us at The Runnymede. We serve breakfast in Leftbank, where you’ll find a hot food station, as well as cereals, fruit, pastries and an array of continental goodies. With free flowing juice, tea and coffee too – this is something you’ll definitely want to take your time over.

Late check out

Stretch your stay for as long as possible and opt for a late check out when you stay with us. Leaving during the early afternoon gives you even more time to tick these autumnal indulgences off your list! Book a late check out until 1pm, subject to availability. Please speak to our Reservations team for further details.
