Spring Clean

After months of alternating between hot, dry indoor air and the harsh cold outside, your skin is definitely ready for a shift in seasonal skin care. It is now time to wake our skin up from its winter slumber and give it that healthy looking glow we all crave when the sun finally starts to shine again. I always like to start off the season with a spring clean of my skincare/beauty shelves. I throw out anything that’s old, make sure everything I’m going to use for my spring skincare routines is within easy reach, clean my makeup brushes and add some nice flowers to brighten things up.

Spring is a great time to have a look at your skincare to ensure you are stepping into the new season with everything you need for glowing, radiant skin. Here are my top tips…

1. Exfoliate

This should be done throughout the year but remember areas such as the neck and décolleté have been hidden away under jumpers and scarves for months and now they are going to be on show more so make sure you are exfoliating from hairline to décolleté 1-2 times per week to buff away those dead skin cells and give your skin a fresh start for spring.

2. Use an SPF

Use an SPF daily. Studies show that prolonged exposure to UV rays can cause skin cells to deteriorate at a much faster rate. To protect your skin, use a high-quality SPF. It can reduce your susceptibility to sunburn, sunspots, wrinkles, and discoloration.

3. Switch to lighter products

You may find that now the harsh winter weather has passed and you’ve not got the central heating on quite so much that you need to reach for a lighter moisturiser so that your skin doesn’t feel weighed down by the heavier products that were necessary for the cold winter months.

4. ESPA’s new Active Nutrients range

This spring I will definitely be reaching for the new ESPA Active Nutrients range. The much loved Optimal collection has been given an upgrade with product improvements, a new name and look. With a citrus pallet of yellow, blue, green and orange packaging it is the perfect collection to really brighten up those skincare bags or shelves. Not only does it all look incredible, it has been extended with the addition of 3 new products, which you can learn more about below.

The Active Nutrients range features two new unique and vital nutrient complexes that are in every product, ingredients that ESPA believe are the core of skin nutrition. These nutrients will actively work on all skin types to replenish the skin, nurturing it and giving you a healthy-looking, radiant complexion. They are:

  • Omega and Vitamin Essential Complex – a skin nurturing blend of omega fatty acids and vitamin E replenishes the skin, so it feels replenished and nourished.
  • Essential Minerals and Electrolyte Complex – This skin nutrient blend of minerals and electrolytes that help to replenish the skin, leaving it feeling revived. Containing a blend of deep-sea Magnesium and Minerals from the Irish Sea, as well as Thermal Water from the Pyrenees Mountains which is rich in pre and post-biotics and contains over 15 minerals.

New Active Nutrients Products

Yuzu & Ginger Cleansing Sorbet

The new Yuzu & Ginger Cleansing Sorbet is for skin that loves that super clean, fresh feeling, this zingy ginger and yuzu oil formula melts away make-up and impurities to leave skin on a healthy, glowing high. Containing Yuzu (a citrus fruit native to Asia), Sweet Orange, Grapefruit and Mango it really is the perfect refreshing pick me up this Spring.

Overnight Glow Enzyme Peel

The Overnight Glow Enzyme Peel – a nutrient-rich overnight peel, that resurfaces and replenishes skin as you rest. The unique Active Nutrients Omega + Vitamin Complex supports skin’s own night-time recovery processes, Pineapple and Pumpkin enzymes paired with the glycolic-like benefits of Yarrow, provide a gentle peeling action so your skin looks progressively fresher and more radiant each morning. Gentle enough to use every day!

Clean & Green Detox Mask

The Clean & Green Detox Mask (definitely my favourite out of the new products). The creamy clay formula is packed with plant-based, nutrient-dense greens to help reset skin with a deep cleansing action that purifies pores, balances oily zones and refines texture. Rebooting radiance to give tired, dull complexions a dose of goodness, this veggie inspired detox mask is like a smoothie for the skin.
