Festive Bellinis

Get ready to toast to the festive season with our festive spiced apple, festive berry and winter plum Bellini cocktails. We’ll be serving these at The Runnymede however as these are so easy to make, why not prepare your own Bellini purée mix at home? Select  your fruit of choice, add everything to a blender and blitz down to a purée texture! Simply top up with your fizz of choice, stir and sit back and enjoy.

Mulled Wine

It’s a classic, but for good reason. A glass of mulled wine is essential around Christmas. Our recipe is a secret so you’ll just have to pop in to try one… cosy up by the fire in our Lounge with a glass in hand and simply watch the world go by.

Mulled Cider

Whoever thought cider was just for summer was wrong! It is the perfect drink to enjoy mulled, with it’s already fruity flavour. To make at home, pour cider into a large pan on a low heat and let it warm through for a few minutes. Add the following spices and juices and turn the heat up: 6 cloves, 3-4 star anise, 1/4 finely grated nutmeg, 1 cinnamon stick, half an orange, 4-5 tablespoons of soft brown sugar, fresh orange juice and pomegranate juice. Once gently boiling, turn down to a simmer and leave to tick away for 5–8 minutes. Remove the star anise, cinnamon stick and orange halves and serve.

Hot Chocolate

We will leave it up to you to decide how to enjoy your hot chocolate, with some inspiration to make it more festive! For a spiced hot chocolate we recommend stirring in a dash of star anise, cinnamon and nutmeg or for an extra kick, add a single measure of a spirit of your choice. Most popular at The Runnymede is Bailey’s Hot Chocolate but for something different, try dark rum or amaretto.

Mulled Apple Juice

Mulled drinks don’t have to be alcoholic. You can add some festive spices to a drink of your choice, for example, tea, or pomegranate juice. We think Mulled Apple Juice is a great option and it’s so easy to make, should you want to try at home. Simply simmer apple juice with a cinnamon stick, 3 cloves and strips of orange peel for 5-10 mins until all the flavours have infused. Then add some honey or sugar if you want it a little sweeter!
