Winter is a time for getting snug and enjoying that contented feeling of being warm and relaxed indoors. Escaping the city for a spa weekend with your loved one is just the ticket. With The Runnymede on Thames located just a meander down the River Thames from London, you can spend less time travelling for a weekend break, and more time chilling out.

Cosying up in dressing gowns and hitting the spa is the first must-have ingredient during a blissful weekend away. Nominated in this year’s Good Spa Guide Awards, The Spa at The Runnymede on Thames has everything the mini-breaker’s heart desires. With an indoor swimming pool, whirlpool bath, saunas, a eucalyptus steam room and plenty of comfy loungers, this is a splendid spot to wend away an afternoon. Flooded with natural light through the floor-to-ceiling windows, feel warm and just a little bit smug while watching the winter scenes unfold outside.

The more active minded can hit the fitness studio next door – brim-full of Technogym equipment and a schedule of regular work-out classes – while those who fancy a break from the sauna can grab a hot drink in the surroundings of the spa’s peaceful Garden Room.

For those who want to be unequivocally pampered, our spa has a range of treatments for both men and women, using products by luxury brands including Guinot and ESPA. Our brand new signature treatment has just been launched too. The ESPA Mindful Massage is all about calming both body and mind. It begins with a foot massage, helping to rebalance and ground you. The soothing massage then continues up through the body, finishing with an energising scalp massage using warm rose quartz crystals.

As if that doesn’t sound heavenly enough, our range of spa treatments and experiences also include the Stress Buster Massage – which includes hot stone therapy – and Toe to Toe Wraps with a mud or algae wrap, a full body aromatherapy massage and a refresher facial. Treatments, especially for men, include Anti Tension Scalp Massages and the ESPA Age Rebel Facial, designed to give immediate results to tired looking skin.

An afternoon in the Spa at The Runnymede on Thames paves the way for deliciously indulgent evenings in the hotel. The Lounge is the perfect place for a winter-inspired gin and tonic, such as the Spice Bath. Made with Bathtub Navy Strength Gin from Kent, it comes served with Fever-Tree aromatic tonic water and is garnished with cinnamon and dried orange.

Dinner at our AA Rosette winning restaurant, The Lock Bar and Kitchen, is the best way to mark the end of an enchanting day. Full of seasonal and British-sourced ingredients indulge in anything from butternut squash and ricotta gratin to grilled Surrey farm rib eye steak. Before heading upstairs to bed, complete the night in style by polishing off a chocolate and red wine poached pear frangipane tart or a selection of British farmhouse cheeses.

Winter weekends away from London look set to be totally tantalising indeed.
