10 wild things to do with children near The Runnymede

To celebrate the release of the new Lion King film on 19th July, we’ve found 10 wild and wonderful activities you can do with the whole family near The Runnymede on Thames.

1. Go Ape

There are three Go Ape experiences near The Runnymede – at Black Park, Bracknell and Chessington World of Adventures. Experience tree top challenges, swing through the canopies and embark on Segway forest adventures. It’ll definitely awaken everyone’s wild side!

2. Odd’s Farm Park

A 25 minute drive from The Runnymede, Odds Farm Park does everything from cow milking and sheep shearing to a goat and sheep show. Children can get hands-on with feeding, egg collecting and brushing the animals – plus run around in multiple play areas.

3. Zoo at Chessington World of Adventures

With a theme park, Go Ape park, SEA LIFE Centre and zoo, Chessington World of Adventures has plenty to keep everyone entertained. With lions, meerkats and 1,000 other exotic animals to be found at the zoo – this is the place to meet Simba and Timon’s friends this Lion King season.

4. Swinley Forest

Just 20 minutes from The Runnymede is Swinley Forest and its extensive network of mountain bike trails. Set over 2,600 acres of forest and gentle hills, it’s the perfect place for a day of family biking.

5. LEGOLAND® Windsor

With animal-themed rides such as the Spinning Spider, as well as adventures aplenty everywhere from the hot air balloon school to the Atlantis Submarine Voyage, days out at LEGOLAND® Windsor promise to be full of fun.

6. Liquid Leisure

With locations in Windsor and Shepperton, visit Liquid Leisure to traverse floating obstacle courses, try out new water sports, and visit the Ninja Warrior UK Aqua Park. Wild days out are guaranteed here!

7. Conquer the Tower

Have an adventure and tire the kids out at Windsor Castle’s Conquer the Tower experience! Climb 200 steps to the top of the Round Tower for a fun challenge and exhilarating views.

8. The Magic Garden

Run wild in The Magic Garden at Hampton Court Palace, just 30 minutes from The Runnymede! Featuring towers, fountains and the famous maze, kids will learn about the history of the palace and exciting magical tales on their adventure through this giant playground.

9. Windsor Great Park

If you’re looking for a wide open space for the kids to run wild, Windsor Great Park has an impressive 4,800 acres! Add a little animal life into the mix too and go on a horse and carriage ride – an idyllic family treat for a summer’s day.

10. Play at The Runnymede

When you’re staying at The Runnymede, you don’t even have to leave our grounds to let the children have a merry time. Our indoor and outdoor pools*, playground, oversized lawn games, boat trips and bird seed promise fun from all angles for each member of the family!

*The outdoor pool is open to hotel residents from Saturday 4th May to Sunday 1st September 2019 subject to availability and weather conditions. Entrance is free to children under 12 daily and adults Sunday – Thursday and for a small charge of £10 per adult per day Friday and Saturday. Please speak to our Reservations team for more details.
