Couple on skippered boat on The River Thames

Picture this – you’re strolling along hand in hand beside the glittering river, its waters rippling serenely in the fresh winter breeze as you take in the tranquil beauty of the luscious green surroundings together. Notice the swans as they glide gracefully across the water, and spot our resident cats watching from the riverbank, eyeing them closely…

The Runnymede on Thames is perched upon this bank of the river. Located in Surrey and just ten minutes from historic Windsor, our cosy riverside hotel is the perfect choice for your romantic Valentine’s weekend, if you’re looking for something peaceful and picturesque.

Arrive to a glass of bubbly and start as you mean to go on. We suggest first and foremost to visit The Spa – a sanctuary of serenity that will instantly melt away life’s daily stresses and get you both feeling refreshed for the weekend of romance ahead. We’ve even got our own whirlpool which sits on a private jetty overlooking the River Thames – it’s the perfect spot for couples to relax together with a drink in hand. Whilst you’re at The Spa, why not spoil the one you love with a special spa treatment? The February Treatment of the Month offer sees a 75-minute body wrap for just £84. Our full body wraps will envelop you in a warm cocoon, nourishing the skin and soothing the senses… It’s the ultimate Valentine’s treat!

• Roast cauliflower with chickpea croquette, romesco sauce at Leftbank

When you feel nice and rested, pop back up to your room and get ready for the evening. The Leftbank restaurant will be awaiting your arrival with a delicious three-course sharing dinner which you can enjoy together with the River Thames as your stunning backdrop. We highly rate the Cupid’s heart dessert – a mouth-watering combination of chocolate, passionfruit and raspberry… Then, with appetites suitably satiated, retreat to a cosy corner of The Lounge for an after-dinner drink. Have you tried our very own The Runnymede gin yet?

A distant hoot from an owl signals the end of the day, so now is the time to retire to the comfort of your bedroom for a peaceful night’s sleep so that you’re ready and raring to go for the following day…

Next morning, awake to the heavenly smell of your full English breakfast sizzling in the kitchen – you won’t think twice about staying in bed! Before checking out, make sure you’ve made the most of our on-site activities – it’s the perfect opportunity to make some meaningful memories with your loved one. Choose from archery, tennis or laser clay pigeon shooting, or hop on a bike and head out to explore Runnymede and its surrounding areas. There are plenty of National Trust sites right on our doorstep!
