There’s nothing like keeping the kids active during half term and our child-friendly swimming pool is just the place to make it happen. Our indoor pool is open for children 08:00 to 12:00 and 15:00 to 19:00, Monday to Sunday, creating plenty of opportunities to make a splash.
Kick off the first weekend of half term with lots of laughs at Monstersaurus at Theatre Royal Windsor, just a short drive up the road from The Runnymede on Thames. A show full of energy with music, magic and lots of audience participation, the kids will be totally hooked by the monstrous adventures of the young inventor, Monty.
Keep the children fuelled up for half term and bring them along to our Leftbank restaurant during the holidays for a child-friendly lunch for just £10. They’ll automatically become part of our Dinky Diners loyalty club, choosing their own personal membership badges. They’ll get a free soft drink and an entry into a lucky dip of seasonal sweets, toys and ducks. Wearing their badge on any future visit will entitle them to a complimentary soft drink or ice cream and another go at the lucky dip.
Just up the road from us at Windsor Castle, half term is taking an unexpected turn for the little ones. Bring on the battle! is an art workshop for children, helping them create masterpieces inspired by their surroundings. If that’s not enough to get the creative juices flowing, they’ll also be able to try on historical costumes and armour.
It can be difficult to fill up all the half term days when you stay at home, so why not take a mini-break when you visit The Runnymede on Thames? We’re a family-run hotel, so we know a thing or two about families. The blogger What the Red Head Said even told us The Runnymede on Thames is the most family-friendly hotel she’s stayed in. When you check-in, the children will receive a Runnymede goodie bag each, with a colouring pack and soft toy. Our family-friendly rooms have bunk beds or cots too. From swimming and our outdoor playground, to board games, feeding the ducks and family-friendly dinners, we’ve got your family break covered.
Teach the kids a bit about history this half term in the great outdoors. The National Trust at Runnymede is running a Suffragettes Family Trail, suitable for the whole family. The walk celebrates 100 years of the female right to vote, with the opportunity to learn about the work of the suffragettes.
A short walk upriver from The Runnymede on Thames, Runnymede Pleasure Grounds is a firm favourite among children. Complete with a playground full of modern play equipment, other children’s amusements and wide open green spaces, it’s a place they can’t get bored of quickly.
Every parent knows that the best half terms are spent with the kids running around having a blast. Our location by the River Thames is ideal for riverside walks for the whole family. We’ll give them some bird feed before you set off so the children can feed the ducks and enjoy the wildlife as well as the fresh air.
For adventurous children, Wild Wood Adventure is just 30 minutes away from The Runnymede on Thames in Guildford. They’ll swing through the trees along zip wires, traverse wobbly bridges and have an altogether amazing woodland adventure. There are a range of activities for children aged six and up – adults can get involved too!
Treat the children to a visit to the park like they’ve never had before. The immense Windsor Great Park is home to Windsor Carriages, who run horse and carriage rides in the beautiful surroundings. As exciting for the kids as it is for their parents, sit back, relax and enjoy!
Due to Government restrictions, The Runnymede will be closed from Thursday 5 November – Wednesday 2 December.
