Graduating from university is a life achievement that deserves a proper family celebration. For mums, dads and other family members visiting the local area for the forthcoming Royal Holloway and Brunel graduation ceremonies, here’s an itinerary to help you make the most of the memorable occasion.

Day one

Afternoon

Check into The Runnymede on Thames from 2pm. Once you’ve organised your belongings in your room, it’s time to hit the spa to relax ahead of your big day out tomorrow. Make full use of our award-winning facilities, including the indoor pool, whirlpool bath and infrared cabin. Book a relaxing or energising treatment, or pay a visit to our outdoor pool for an al fresco dip.

Evening

Gather the family together in the Lounge or on one of our terraces and make the most of our Gin Menu. We’ve sourced gins from a selection of local and international gin makers to come up with an inventive menu – perfect for saying ‘cheers’ all together as a family. Book a table at our Leftbank restaurant for afterwards and enjoy buffet style dining and foodie treats served from our brand new robata grill. Then get 40 winks before the big day tomorrow!

Day two

Morning

Fuel up in the morning and eat as much as you want at our breakfast buffet. With fresh juices, pastries, cereals and an array of hot breakfast items – including an egg station – you’ll be raring to go by the time breakfast is finished. If you’re feeling in the celebratory mood already, you might even fancy a Buck’s Fizz by the river before you head out for the day!

Afternoon

Proud parents alert! Dress in your finest, head over to the graduation ceremony and take lots of cheesy photos for the family albums.

Evening

After a busy day out, it’s time to head back to The Runnymede to settle in for the evening. Book a table at The Lock Bar and Kitchen for your celebratory graduation meal. An AA Rosette award-winning restaurant, tuck into British classics and seasonal specials designed by our talented chefs. We’ve got plenty of tipples perfect for raising a glass to as well, from cocktails and bubbles to Lorenzo’s List – a carefully curated wine list by our resident wine connoisseur.

Day three

Morning

Enjoy a lazy breakfast by the river before it’s time to check out at 11am. Don’t let your graduation celebrations stop there though. We enjoy an enviable location by the River Thames and alongside the historic National Trust land of Runnymede. So make the most of it and go for a stroll along the river to the Magna Carta memorials, or hire one of our riverboats for a few hours to explore the river together as a family.
