1. The Grove

This prestigious par 72 golf course has previously played host to the World Golf Championship event won by Tiger Woods, as well as the 2016 British Masters. The perfect spot to walk in the footsteps of the globe’s golfing greats, The Grove offers an award-winning 18-hole course. Spanning an area of more than 7,000 yards, this is a luxurious golf course that is both challenging and immaculately kept. You can reach The Grove within 30 minutes by car from The Runnymede.

2. Sunningdale Golf Club

Surrounded by rolling countryside, Sunningdale Golf Club boasts two golf courses in stunning surroundings. Embodying the club’s long and prestigious history, the Old Course opened in 1901. Designed by golfer Willie Park Junior – who later went into golf course architecture – this golf course at Sunningdale was unlike anywhere else in the world at the time. The New Course at Sunningdale opened in 1923 and offers a different proposition thanks to the rugged heathland it is built on. Both 18-hole, par 70 courses are consistently rated among the best golf courses in Britain – and they can be reached in just 15 minutes by car from The Runnymede.

3. Windlesham Golf Club

This parkland golf course offers glorious views over the Surrey countryside – and the two 9-hole courses definitely do justice to the surroundings. Set over 6,650 yards, the two loops of this par 72 championship golf course feature gentle slopes, streams, grasslands and lakes, surrounded by ancient trees. A 300 yard range, putting green and academy also offer opportunities for golfers to brush up on their game. Windlesham Golf Club is 20 minutes away from The Runnymede by car.

4. Swinley Forest Golf Club

A golf course created amid a royal hunting forest and open heathland, Swinley Forest Golf Club offers a golfing experience like no other. Just over 6,400 yards long, the course was designed by the golf course architect Harry Colt, who famously described it as his “least bad course!” The 18-hole, par 69 course offers a great golfing challenge amid purple heather and mature pines – and can be reached in around 20 minutes by car from The Runnymede.

5. Royal Ascot Golf Club

Located in a pristine corner of Windsor Great Park, Royal Ascot Golf Club hosts regular international tournaments, and is a favourite of members of the royal family and other well-known faces. The course itself lives up to the prestige of its name – an 18-hole, par 70 golf course that incorporates a swathe of established trees, ponds and brooks. The only royal golf club in the locality, Royal Ascot Golf Club can be reached in 20 minutes by car from The Runnymede.

6. Bird Hills Golf Centre

Providing an excellent golfing challenge for golfers of all abilities, Bird Hills Golf Centre offers an 18-hole, par 72 course almost 6,200 yards in length. Surrounded by the pretty Berkshire countryside, the golf course incorporates a number of water hazards, hidden bunkers and wide open fairways. A 36-bay driving range makes it the perfect spot to get some practice in too. Bird Hills Golf Centre can be reached by car from The Runnymede in half an hour.
